Exterior renovations have begun at the Hilton Pittsburgh, in the second phase of a massive transformation of the Pennsylvania city’s largest and most recognizable hotel.
The second stage of the project will transform the property’s slim-line appearance with a dramatic wave-like exterior façade that pays tribute to the city’s Three Rivers.
Located at the gateway to Pittsburgh’ s famous Golden Triangle, the Hilton Pittsburgh will see its striking gold-aluminum finish refreshed and a grand staircase connecting the lobby and ballroom levels will be installed.
In addition, exterior windows have been replaced, the main lobby’s marble floor is being refurbished and carpeting at the property’s main entrance is being replaced with beautiful stonework.
These Phase Two improvements are designed to complement the comfort and style of the Hilton Pittsburgh’s newly renovated guest rooms. Phase One featured a $30 million interior renovation that gutted every floor. The interior renovation completely updated the rooms, along with their heating, ventilation, air conditioning and plumbing.
Now all 712 guestrooms provide greater comfort, style and convenience along with breathtaking views of the city’s skyscape or Three Rivers, according to the Hilton Pittsburgh.
In addition to its physical changes, the property is also under new leadership. On August 23, Prism Hotels and Resorts, a full-service hotel management and hotel receivership company, was appointed to oversee day-to-day hotel operations. A long-standing partner with Hilton Worldwide, Prism manages many hotels across numerous brands within the Hilton family.
Under the Hilton flag for more than 50 years, the Hilton Pittsburgh is the city’s largest hotel. The Hilton Pittsburgh is located downtown at Gateway Center, facing (and adjacent to) Point State Park and Pittsburgh’s famed three rivers, six blocks from the David L. Lawrence Convention Center and across the river from Heinz Field and PNC Park. Located at the gateway to Pittsburgh’s Cultural District, the Hilton is the hub of activities for sporting events, the Arts Festival, Three Rivers Regatta, Light Up Night, Galas, Meetings and Conventions.
Each of Hilton Pittsburgh’s 712 guest rooms features a flat-panel HDTV, Hilton’s Serenity Collection bed and bath amenities, and Lavazza in-room coffee. They are all newly remodeled with ergonomically designed work areas, two dual-line speakerphones with voicemail and wireless high-speed Internet access. All guestrooms feature the new Suite Dreams Bed by Hilton.
Hilton Pittsburgh currently features 40,000 square feet of flexible function space, including Pittsburgh’s largest hotel ballroom and a state-of-the-art conference center. The property employs almost 500 local residents and welcomes hundreds of conventions and special events each year.
