The Ritz-Carlton has introduced the World Concierge on Foursquare, a new service offering local tips from the concierges of its hotels to mobile-device users who visit the profile of the hotel brand on the location-based social media site Foursquare.com.

According to The Ritz-Carlton, this is the first time a luxury hotel brand has extended its exclusive services to a mobile public audience. The company says its World Concierge on Foursquare service will be updated regularly with tips from concierges from all 75 Ritz-Carlton hotels around the world, so the service’s knowledge base will grow and evolve every week.


The Ritz-Carlton is at pains to say the service is not designed merely to tout the services at its hotels. Instead, it says, The Ritz-Carlton’s concierges will offer their knowledge and expertise on the cities and destinations in and around which their hotels are located, providing insight into cities such as Toronto, Miami, Berlin, Dubai  and many others.

This will result in hundreds of tips and insights about local destinations and landmarks all over the world, according to the hotel company.

“Guests of The Ritz-Carlton have always enjoyed the expertise of concierges who are the best in the business. Foursquare enables The Ritz-Carlton concierge to travel with the mobile-user, the hotel company stresses.

“It’s possible to access their destination knowledge instantly as you check in to multiple global landmarks,” adds Gabaldon. “Starting today, Foursquare users across the globe are invited to access knowledge and valuable tips just by following The Ritz-Carlton on Foursquare. For the first time ever, the collected local knowledge of The Ritz-Carlton is available in your pocket.”

Foursquare users are able to find local information by visiting the profile of The Ritz-Carlton or by checking in to numerous locations of interest around the world.
