Owner White Lodging Services Corporation has opened the new Courtyard by Marriott Fort Wayne Downtown and its associated Champions Restaurant.
The hotel’s opening comes three weeks earlier than originally scheduled and is in time to accommodate guests for the popular Cord Duesenberg Festival in Auburn, Indiana and the final home games of the year for the Minor League Baseball team the Fort Wayne Tin Caps, which plays in a Class A league.
The 250-room hotel forms part of the new $120 million, mixed-use revitalization developments in downtown Fort Wayne and Harrison Square.
Offering more than 6,000 square feet of meeting space (including a ballroom that seats up to 250 people), the hotel can accommodate both business and social events such as galas and weddings. An overhead enclosed walkway provides easy and convenient access for guests desiring to attend events at the Embassy Theatre and Grand Wayne Convention Center, which has more than 100,000 square feet of meeting and pre-function space.
The hotel is also near the new baseball stadium for the Fort Wayne Tincaps. It is also near the Embassy Center, a 1928 historic theatre which presents more than 40 performances each year in addition to housing touring companies, concert tours, dance, lectures and community events. The hotel is also adjacent to the Foellinger-Freimann Botanical Conservatory.
Boasting the new Courtyard concept of “Refreshing Business”, the hotel offers technology and services designed to offer guests more work and relaxation options while traveling. The lobby will feature a 52-inch LCD touch screen “GoBoard” which highlights maps, weather, news, events, and other local information.
In addition, the hotel’s lobby also offers media pods, a home-theatre environment and a business library as well as places for guests to eat, connect, work and relax. The hotel also has an indoor pool, a sizable fitness center and a business center.
The Courtyard by Marriott Fort Wayne Downtown at the Grand Wayne Center is complemented by a Champions Restaurant and Sports Bar. Serving classic American fare for lunch and dinner, Champions will offer room service delivery in the evening and will boast more than 30 high-definition, flat-screen TVs so guests may catch all the latest sporting events.
Additionally, the Courtyard Bistro will offer healthy, personalized food and beverage options for breakfast, including Starbucks coffee.
“The new Courtyard by Marriott at the Grand Wayne Center is an outstanding addition to the Fort Wayne downtown business development and will help attract thousands of new visitors to Fort Wayne through business, leisure and convention travel,” says Bob Jensch, regional vice president for White Lodging.
