March 1: AirTran Airways has begun a a partnership with American Express OPEN and the OPEN Savings program under which American Express OPEN card holders will be eligible for a 5 per cent discount on all of the low-cost carrier’s more than 700 daily flights. Any ticket purchased at www.airtran.com, via 1-800-AIR-TRAN or at any AirTran Airways ticket counter with an American Express Business Card will receive the discount. Additionally, OPEN Savings is sponsoring free onboard Wi-Fi on all AirTran Airways flights from March 13 through March 27.

January 15: Alaska Airlines and Horizon Air have launched “Join. Fly. Fly Free.”, a Mileage Plan offer for travelers in Oregon and five southwest Washington counties. Travelers who enroll in Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan will receive 5,000 miles when they sign up and another 20,000 miles after they fly one qualifying roundtrip to, from or connecting in Portland, Oregon. To qualify for the “Join. Fly. Fly Free.” offer, travelers must live in Oregon or Wahkiakum, Cowlitz, Clark, Skamania or Klickitat counties in southwest Washington, join the Mileage Plan and travel by April 1. With 25,000 miles, members can claim one free roundtrip Super Saver Award ticket anywhere Alaska or Horizon fly in the continental United States and Canada, or book award travel on one of Alaska and Horizon’s alliance partners, which include Delta Air Lines and American Airlines. In addition to the “Fly. Buy. Fly Free.” offer, all Mileage Plan members are eligible to earn Double Miles when they fly between Portland and one of several cities. During the first quarter of 2010, the cities include Boston; Denver; Kahului, Maui; Medford, Oregon; and Oakland and Santa Rosa, California. December 29: SuperShuttle, which operates shared-ride service to and from 33 U.S. airports, is offering 15 per cent discounts on all round trips booked through March 15. The “Winter Garage Sale” is only for residential customers and requires a round-trip booking. Travel on SuperShuttle also allows customers to earn additional airline mileage points on participating carriers. Frequent flyer programs on which SuperShuttle customers may earn airline mileage points include Delta Airlines SkyMiles, Frontier Airlines EarlyReturns, Northwest Airlines WorldPerks, United Airlines Mileage Plus and US Airways Dividend Miles. December 2: Alaska Airlines Vacations has launched a new “Kids Fly Free to The Disneyland Resort” promotion, which offers free airfare for children ages 2 to 11 who accompany an adult on an Alaska Airlines Southern California Vacation package. In addition, guests who buy three nights at one of the hotels of the Disneyland Resort will get two more nights free when they book by April 1, 2010, and travel by April 29, 2010. Specially priced multi-day Disneyland Resort Park Hopper Bonus Ticket pricing is also available with savings up to $80 per ticket when purchased with an Alaska Airlines Vacations package. The offer is valid to four Southern California airports: Orange County, Los Angeles, Long Beach and San Diego.
