Las Vegas’ new CityCenter urban resort development has announced its opening schedule, with most of the vast new downtown resort area opening this December.
CityCenter’s grand opening schedule will see the Vdara Hotel open on December 1 and the Crystals retail and entertainment district on December 3. On December 4, the Mandarin Oriental, Las Vegas will open in CityCenter, with the ARIA Resort & Casino following on December 16.
Residential occupancy in CityCenter’s Veer Towers building is slated to begin opening in mid-January 2010, with luxury hotel The Harmon planned to open in late 2010.
Designed by eight reputed architects, CityCenter’s aim is to redefine Las Vegas by bringing a true center to The Strip, offering a community with pedestrian corridors, dynamic public spaces and a public fine art collection that will include works by artists such as Maya Lin or Nancy Rubins for residents and visitors to happen across as they wander through CityCenter’s walkways, hotels and residences.

Part of Las Vegas' spectacular new CityCenter urban resort development, ARIA Resort & Casino will open as a futuristic, Gold-LEED-certified building on December 16
Upon opening, CityCenter will be one of the largest sustainable developments in existence, its developer MGM Mirage says. The U.S. Green Building Council already has awarded Gold LEED certification to ARIA’s hotel tower, convention center and theater, and to Vdara Hotel. CityCenter’s remaining venues are aiming to receive a combination of Silver and Gold LEED ratings.

…so there will be no “grand celebratory event”…..?
…have photographed Las Vegas since the 80′s (actually 70′s)…and would not want to miss this….!
I believe there will be various events and indeed a “grand celebratory event”. We haven’t covered the grand-opening celebration announcement as we don’t want to over-publicize Las Vegas City Center to the exclusion of other, extremely worthwhile destinations throughout the United States and throughout the world. So you might want to do a search and find out if more details are available elsewhere.
