The Four Seasons Resort Hualalai in Kona, Hawaii, has unveiled the results of a 15-month, $40 million enhancement. The enhancement includes 20 new suites, a major transformation of the resort’s spa, new retail boutiques and renovations to the hotel’s beachfront bar, lounge and restaurant.
In celebration, the resort is offering guests a $495 promotional rate (not including tax) on stays in Golf View rooms this fall, beginning September 15.
Four Seasons Resort Hualalai’s 20 new one- and two-bedroom suites offer between 1,150 and 1,950 square feet of indoor-outdoor living space, as well as prime ocean views. Designed by San Francisco designers Babey Moulton Jue & Booth in collaboration with Philpotts & Associates, Hawaii’s preeminent design firm, the suites feature custom furnishings and the textures of Hawaii.
Exotic woods, stone and natural textiles complement clean-lined furniture that is accented with traditional Hawaiian fabrics. Traditional and contemporary Hawaiian art graces the walls. Extra touches include slate bathrooms with steam showers and lanais off both the master bedroom and living rooms, maximizing the ocean views.
The transformed 28,000-square-foot Hualalai Spa integrates tropical gardens with cool interior spaces and strives to create a Hawaiian fel. Guests can choose one of four new outdoor hales in which to enjoy their spa experience, which may include a new signature Apothecary treatment. Island elders shared their healing traditions and knowledge of native plants and minerals to help in the creation of Hualalai’s spa Apothecary. With the guidance of their spa therapist, guests can choose from more than 20 local natural ingredients, from Hawaiian sea salt to crushed macadamia nuts, which are custom-blended to create unique personalized spa treatments.
The interior and exterior spaces of the resort’s oceanfront restaurant, Beach Tree, have been transformed to provide 16-foot-high vaulted ceilings and expansive water views, with the aim of giving the restaurant a Hawaiian beach-house feel. New trellised seating provides for al fresco dining, and guests can sip cocktails in expanded outdoor lounge spaces. New Chef de Cuisine Nick Mastrascusa, who joins Four Seasons Resort Hualalai from 57 Restaurant at Four Seasons Hotel New York, oversees a menu featuring Californianwith Italian influences.
Two new resort boutiques have opened at the resort. At the spa, the Seaside boutique features designers such as Tory Burch, James Perse, Diane von Furstenberg and more. Seaside Luxe offers a fusion of high-fashion lines such as Pucci, Missoni and Zac Posen and jewelry from Irene Neuwirth, along with children’s beachwear, in a bungalow setting.
