Canadian carrier WestJet is featuring three new destinations, 10 new routes and expanded service on more than 30 other routes in its winter schedule...

Once a week, on Fridays, WestJet will fly an Edmonton-Montego Bay service, from November 5. The carrier’s flight will leave Edmonton International Airport (YEG) at 10:30 a.m. and reach MBJ at 6:40 p.m. The return flight will depart MBJ at 7:30 p.m. and land at YEG at 12:42 a.m. WestJet is offering fares from C$269 plus taxes and fees on the route.

Also operating once a week will be WestJet’s Calgary-Montego Bay service, on Saturdays from November 6. This flight will leave Calgary International Airport (YYC) at 7:00 a.m. and reach MBJ at 3:06 p.m. The return flight is timed to depart MBJ at 4:00 p.m., to arrive at YYC at 9:09 p.m. The carrier’s fares will start at C$269 plus taxes and fees.


The airline will also operate weekly flights on Saturdays between Calgary and Varadero in Cuba, from November 6. The schedule calls for the flight to depart YYC at 7:00 a,m, and to arrive at Varadero’s Juan Gualberto Gómez Airport (VRA) at 2:25 p.m. The return flight will leave VRA at 8:15 p.m. and reach YYC at 12:36 a.m. WestJet is offering fares from C$249 plus taxes and fees.

Once a week, on Sundays, WestJet will operate its Saskatoon-Montego Bay service. The flight is scheduled to push back at Saskatoon’s John G. Diefenbaker International Airport (YXE) at 11:30 p.m. and land at MBJ at 6:15 a.m. The flight back to Saskatoon is timed to leave MBJ at 7:05 a.m. and reach YXE at 12:43 p.m. The carrier is offering fares from C$249 plus taxes and fees.

The airline will operate its Regina-Montego Bay service once a week, on Wednesdays, from November 3. WestJet’s flight will leave Regina International Airport (YQR) at 11:50 p.m. and land at MBJ at 6:15 a.m. The flight back is timed to depart MBJ at 7:05 a.m. and land at YQR at 12:22 p.m. The airline is offering fares from C$229 plus taxes and fees.

Between Winnipeg’s James Armstrong Richardson International Airport (YWG) and Montego Bay, WestJet will fly twice weekly, on Wednesdays and Saturdays from November 3. (The flights are timed differently.) The airline is offering fares from C$219  plus taxes and fees for the flight.

On the Toronto-Palm Springs route, WestJet will offer twice-weekly service, its flights operating on Wednesdays and Saturdays from February 2, 2011. The outbound flight is timed to depart YYZ at 9:45 a.m. and land at Palm Springs International Airport (PSP) at noon. The return flight is scheduled to leave PSP at 12:45 p.m. and to reach YYZ at 8:08 p.m. WestJet is offering fares from C$239 plus taxes and fees.

The airline will operate its Montréal-Montego Bay service once a week, on Fridays, from November 5. The flight will push back from Montréal–Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport (YUL) at 8:00 a.m. and land at MBJ at 12:38 p.m. The flight back will depart MBJ at 1:30 p.m. and arrive at YUL at 5:48 p.m. WestJet is offering fares from C$239 plus taxes and fees.

On the Montréal-Varadero route, WestJet will fly weekly on Saturdays from November 6. The outbound flight is timed to depart YUL at 3:30 p.m. and to reach VRA at 7:15 p.m. The return flight will leave VRA at 3:32 p.m. (obviously using a different aircraft than the one which performs the outbound YUL-VRA flight, given the timing of the outbound and inbound departures) and land at YUL at 7:10 p.m. The airline is offering fares from C$229 plus taxes and fees for the itinerary.

      Watch this space. I recently spoke to Dr. Hugh Dunleavy, WestJet’s EVP of strategy and planning, and he confirms the airline is considering serving Central American countries such as Belize in the future.

    Does Westjet have any plans to fly to Phoenix/Mesa Gateway airport in the future?

    WestJet already flies to Phoenix International Airport, so I doubt the airline will also decide to serve Phoenix-Mesa.
