This winter WestJet is launching two new routes to Florida, one to Mexico and one to Costa Rica, as well as adding more than 85 flights throughout its domestic and international networks.
The carrier’s winter 2015-16 schedule will also see WestJet’s regional subsidiary, Bombardier Q400 operator WestJet Encore, launching three-times-daily service between Toronto Pearson International Airport and Boston, its first U.S. destination.
“WestJet continues to enhance its strong position in key sun markets with the addition of more destinations in areas popular with Canadian travelers,” says Chris Avery, WestJet’s vice-president, network planning, alliances and corporate development.
“Our upcoming winter schedule also adds many new routes, extends routes from seasonal to year-round and increases frequencies within Canada to improve our business and leisure products,” continues Avery.
Adds Avery: “And we’re excited to bring on stream our Boeing 767-300ER aircraft to fly between Alberta and Hawaii this winter – yet another important milestone for WestJet.”
WestJet’s new routes for the winter 2015-16 season include a weekly Vancouver-Orlando round-trip, which the carrier will begin operating on January 1.
The outbound flight will depart Vancouver International Airport (IATA code YVR) at 11:35 p.m. and land at Orlando International Airport (MCO) at 8:00 a.m. local time.
WestJet will also inaugurate a twice-weekly Calgary-Fort Lauderdale service, on November 30. The outbound flights will depart Calgary International Airport (YYC) at 10:20 a.m. and reach Fort Lauderdale Hollywood International Airport (FLL) at 5:29 p.m. local time.
Another new route WestJet will offer this winter from Calgary is a twice-weekly service to Huatulco, a coastal resort in the state of Oaxaca on Mexico’s southwestern Pacific coast.
WestJet will begin serving Bahías de Huatulco International Airport (HUX) from Calgary on December 12.
Its outbound flight will leave YYC at 8:25 a.m. and arrive at HUX at 3:07 p.m. local time.
From Calgary, WestJet will also open a new route to Liberia, in the Pacific coastal province of Guanacaste in Costa Rica. It will launch the route on December 19.
WestJet will operate four round-trips a week on its Calgary-Liberia route, its outbound flight departing YYC at 10:55 p.m. and touching down at Liberia’s Daniel Oduber Quirós International Airport (LIR) at 6:39 a.m. the following day.

These include Victoria, Vancouver, Abbotsford, Kelowna, Penticton, Calgary, Edmonton, Fort McMurray, Saskatoon, Brandon, Toronto, Halifax, Charlottetown and Deer Lake.
In addition to beginning previously announced new international service between Abbotsford and Las Vegas on October 29, the airline will offer increased numbers of flights to a number of international destinations this winter.
Other international destinations to see increased WestJet service this winter will include Palm Springs, Fort Myers, Orlando, Tampa, Cancun, Loreto, Puerto Vallarta, Cabo San Lucas, Turks and Caicos, Puerto Plata and Punta Cana.
