Mexican low-cost carrier Volaris Airlines is taking advantage of Mexicana’s ceasing operations by launching six new domestic routes from México City’s Benito Juarez International Airport
In addition to the airline’s existing routes linking México City with Hermosillo and Tijuana, Volaris Airlines is now offering twice-daily round-trips between Benito Juarez (MEX) and Cancún and daily round-trips between MEX and Guadalajara, Chihuahua, La Paz, Los Cabos and Mérida. With the exception of the México City-Mérida route, which launches on September 23, Volaris began all the new routes on September 22.
Volaris’ schedule between México City and La Paz in the state of Baja California calls for its flight to depart MEX at 12:10 p.m. and to reach La Paz International Airport (LAP) at 1:10 p.m. local time. In the other direction, the Volaris flight leaves LAP at 2:00 p.m. and lands at MEX at 5:25 p.m. local time.
Between México City and Chihuahua (in the state of Chihuahua), the Volaris flight is timed to push back at MEX at 6:10 a.m. in order to make a 7:35 a.m. arrival at Chihuahua’s Gen. Fierro Villalobos Airport (CUU). On the return segment, Volaris’ flight leaves CUU at 8:00 a.m. and reaches MEX at 11:20 a.m.
The airline’s México City-Cancún schedule sees a flight depart MEX at 6:10 p.m. and arrive at Cancún (which is in Quintana Roo state) at 8:20 p.m. On the return leg, the Volaris flight is timed to leave Cancún International Airport (CUN) at 9:05 p.m. and land at MEX at 11:30 p.m. Another Cancún-originating flight departs CUN at 12:45 p.m. and arrives at MEX at 3:10 p.m., with the return flight leaving MEX at 4:00 p.m. and reaching CUN at 6:10 p.m.
Volaris’ schedule between México City and Los Cabos in Baja California has the daily flight leaving MEX at 12:10 p.m. and landing at Los Cabos International Airport (SJD) at 1:35 p.m. In the other direction, the flight is timed to depart SJD at 2:00 p.m. and arrive at MEX at 5:25 p.m. local time.
The carrier’s schedule linking México City with Guadalajara in Jalisco state calls for the Volaris Airbus to push back at MEX at 6:35 p.m. and arrive at Guadalajara’s Miguel Hidalgo International Airport (GDL) at 7:50 p.m. On the way back, the flight leaves GDL at 8:15 p.m. and reaches MEX at 9:30 p.m.
From September 23, Volaris’ new route between México City and Mérida in the state of Yucatán departs MEX at 6:40 a.m. and arrives at Mérida’s Manuel Crescencio Rejón International Airport (MID) at 8:45 a.m. The return flight is timed to leave MID at 9:10 a.m. and reach MEX at 11:25 a.m.
