US Airways is resuming daily seasonal service from its international gateway at Philadelphia International Airport to Shannon Airport in western Ireland on May 22, after a hiatus of nearly four years.

The airline will operate its flights between Philadelphia International Airport (IATA code PHL) and Shannon Airport (SNN) with 176-seat, dual-class Boeing 757-200 aircraft until September 3, 2013.

US Airways operates 15 Boeing 757-200 jets equipped for ETOPS flights on international routes, plus another nine ETOPS-equipped aircraft on domestic routes. US Airways operates 15 ETOPS-equipped Boeing 757-200 single-aisle jets on international routes. These aircraft are fitted with 12 business class seats and 164 economy-class seats.

According to US Airways, its seasonal service to Shannon Airport will complement the carrier’s existing year-round daily service to Dublin from Philadelphia and seasonal daily service from its hub at Charlotte-Douglas International Airport in North Carolina.

“Beginning next spring, our customers will again have non-stop access to both coasts of Ireland,” says said Andrew Nocella, US Airways’ senior vice president, marketing and planning. “Customers can begin their trip with the Cliffs of Moher outside of Shannon and end it with the castles in Dublin, seeing all that Ireland has to offer.”

As an additional benefit, customers can clear U.S. customs and immigration before departing Shannon Airport, allowing for a quick and efficient arrival experience at Philadelphia International Airport.

Passengers who receive U.S. customs and immigration pre-clearance at Shannon Airport arrive in the U.S. as domestic passengers, are able to check their baggage through to their final destination and ultimately reduce the amount of time needed to connect to their next flight.

Customers may book their flight to Shannon at www.usairways.com, by calling US Airways’ reservations center at 1-800-428-4322 or through their travel agents. The flight schedule is as follows.

US Airways’ 2013 seasonal schedule for its Philadelphia-Shannon service will see flight US776 leave PHL daily between May 2 and September 3 at 9:05 p.m.and land at SNN at 8:40 a.m.the following day, local time.

In the other direction, flight US777 is timed to depart SNN at 11:35 a.m and reach PHL at 2:05 p.m. the same day, local time.
