US Airways is launching daily non-stop service to São Paulo in Brazil from Charlotte in North Carolina, its largest hub, on June 8.
São Paulo is US Airways’ second destination in South America and the new flight complements the airline’s existing non-stop service to Rio de Janeiro from Charlotte.
The airline will operate its service to Brazil’s largest city with Boeing 767-200ER aircraft seating 18 in Envoy (US Airways’ international business class) and 186 in the main cabin.
“US Airways’ new flight to São Paulo further establishes our commitment to expanding our international reach for our customers,” says Suzanne Boda, US Airways’ senior vice president, airport customer service, international and cargo.
“Our customers in more than 85 communities in the United States will have convenient one-stop access to São Paulo, South America’s most important business market, with the launch of service tomorrow. The new service provides customers with a second daily option to reach Brazil.”
Customers may book their flights from Charlotte to São Paulo through US Airways’ website at www.usairways.com, by calling US Airways Reservations at 1-800-428-4322 or through travel agents.
US Airways’ flight schedule for the route will see its flight US802 departing Charlotte Douglas International Airport (IATA code CLT) at 5:50 p.m. daily from June 8 and arriving at São Paulo Guarulhos Airport (GRU) at 4:30 a.m. the following morning, local time.
In the other direction, the return flight US803 is timed to leave GRU at 8:25 a.m. from June 9 and reach CLT at 5:25 p.m. local time.
On March 4, US Airways filed an application with the U.S. Department of Transportation for the rights to operate daily, year-round service between São Paulo and the airline’s international gateway at Philadelphia International Airport.
If US Airways were awarded the route rights, the proposed service would be the airline’s third daily flight to South America and would provide customers in 75 communities with easy one-stop access to São Paulo.
