United Airlines plans to add daily transatlantic summer-season service on May 25 between Newark and Athens, Washington Dulles and Barcelona and Washington Dulles and Lisbon.
All three services are subject to United receiving government approval to operate the seasonal routes.
The airline also needs governmental approval for its planned San Francisco-Xi’an seasonal service in 2016, for which it has newly announced its planned schedule and begun selling tickets.
United plans to operate daily service between its New York-area hub at Newark Liberty International Airport (IATA code EWR) and Greece’s capital Athens from May 25 through October 5.
The carrier intends to operate its 2016 seasonal daily services linking Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD) with Barcelona and Lisbon from May 25 through September 6.
United’s schedule for its planned Newark-Athens service calls for flight UA124 to depart EWR at 5:40 p.m. daily from May 25 through October 5 and land at Athens International Airport Eleftherios Venizelos (ATH) at 10:30 a.m. the following morning, local time.
In the other direction, flight UA125 will leave ATH at 12:30 p.m. daily from May 26 through October 6 and reach EWR at 4:30 p.m. local time.
Flight times will be 9 hours 50 minutes eastbound and 11 hours westbound. United will operate its Newark-Athens service with Boeing 767-300ERs.
United’s schedule for its Washington Dulles-Barcelona service will see flight UA140 push back from the gate at EWR at 6:10 p.m. daily frm May 25 through September 6 and touch down at Barcelona International Airport (BCN) at 8:20 a.m. the following morning, local time.
In the other direction, flight UA141 will vacate its gate at BCN at 11:30 a.m. daily from May 26 through September 7 and land at EWR at 2:45 p.m. local time.
The carrier will operate its Washington Dulles-Barcelona flights with Boeing 767-400ERs. Flight times for the Barcelona service will be 8 hours 10 minutes eastbound and 9 hours 15 minutes westbound.
United has served Spain for more than 20 years, and this new service will complement the airline’s existing year-round flights to both Barcelona and Madrid from Newark.
The carrier’s schedule for its Washington Dulles-Lisbon seasonal service calls for flight UA167 to leave IAD at 5:55 p.m. daily from May 25 through September 6 and get to Lisbon Portela Airport (LIS) at 6:20 a.m. the following morning, local time.
In the other direction, flight UA168 will depart LIS at 10:50 a.m. daily from May 6 through September 7 and arrive at IAD at 2:10 p.m. local time.
United will operate its Washington Dulles-Lisbon service with Boeing 757-200s. Flight times will be 7 hours 25 minutes eastbound and 8 hours 20 minutes westbound.
The service will be in addition to United’s existing year-round service to Lisbon from Newark. In 2016, United will mark 19 years of service to Lisbon.
United plans to operate three-times-weekly service from San Francisco to the Chinese city of Xi’an between May 8 and October 27.
Its schedule for San Francisco-Xi’an service calls for its flight to depart San Francisco International Airport (SFO) at 1:35 p.m. on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays between May 8 and October 27 and arrive at Xi’an Xianyang International Airport (XIY) at 5:30 p.m. the following day, local time.
The return flights will depart XIY at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays between May 10 and October 29 and arrive at SFO at 6:35 a.m. the same day, local time.
United plans to operate Boeing 787-8s on the route. Flight times will be approximately 12 hours 55 minutes westbound and 12 hours 5 minutes eastbound.
