Spirit Airlines is launching daily service on June 21 between Dallas/Fort Worth and Portland, Oregon.
Portland will be Spirit Airlines’ 15th non-stop destination from Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport.
To promote the new service, Spirit Airlines is offering each-way fares from $28.79 (which is a $9.00 base fare plus taxes and fees, the fare being based on a round-trip purchase), between Dallas/Fort Worth and Portland. The fares are available through April 19 at www.spirit.com.
Spirit says it has more than quadrupled the number of cities it serves from Dallas/Fort Worth since starting service to the Metroplex nearly a year ago on May 5, 2011. The airline started operations at DFW with non-stop service to Fort Lauderdale and Las Vegas, followed by Chicago, and now also offers non-stop service to Atlanta, Boston, New York LaGuardia, Orlando and Phoenix/Mesa.
On May 3, Spirit starts daily service from DFW to Denver and a three-times-weekly service to Myrtle Beach. Then, on May 4, Spirit begins operating a four-times-weekly service to Tampa.
The airline also recently announced that it will start nonstop daily service from Dallas/Fort Worth to Toluca (close to Mexico City), Detroit and San Diego on June 21.
“We welcome Spirit’s expansion at Portland International Airport,” says David Zielke, the Port of Portland’s general manager of air service development. “Spirit is a welcome addition at PDX since launching non-stop service to Las Vegas in September, and we expect equal enthusiasm from our community for this new non-stop route to Dallas/Fort Worth.”
Spirit Airlines’ schedule for its Dallas/Fort Worth-Portland service will see flight NK875 leaving Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) at 11:00 p.m. and landing at Portland International Airport at 12:50 a.m. the following morning, local time.
In the other direction, from June 22, Spirit’s flight NK458 is timed to depart PDX at 12:40 a.m. and arrive at DFW at 6:25 a.m., local time.
