Spain’s Air Europa is launching four-times weekly non-stop service between Miami and Madrid on March 19.

Upon arrival at Madrid-Barajas Airport (MAD), the Air Europa flight from Miami International Airport (MIA) will offer connections to more than 20 cities in Spain and to important European capitals such as Paris, Rome and London.

Air Europa will operate the route with Airbus A330-200s seating 275 economy-class passengers and 24 Club Business passengers.

The aircraft will depart from MIA at 9:15 p.m. operating Air Europa’s flight UX098, arriving at MAD at 12:25 p.m. the following day (all times given are local times). In the other direction, flight UX097 is scheduled to depart MAD at 3:00 p.m. and to arrive at MIA at 8:50 p.m.

In addition to six Airbus A330-200s and two Boeing 767-300ERs which it operates on long-haul routes, Mallorca-based Air Europa's fleet includes more than 30 Boeing 737-800s (with a similar number on order for future delivery) and a growing number of Embraer 195 large regional jets. Air Europa operates the two latter types on its Spanish domestic flights and services to European and North African destinations

“Today marks another milestone for Air Europa, as we expand our international transatlantic route network in the United States,” says Javier Hidalgo, CEO of Globalia Group, which owns Air Europa. “We are thrilled to offer South Florida business and leisure travelers a new alternative to travel to Madrid and beyond.”

Air Europa says it boasts a 96 per cent punctuality rate throughout its system and more official quality, safety and maintenance certificates than any other Spanish airline. Air Europa is also a member of the SkyTeam alliance and will be the only SkyTeam member to offer direct service to Madrid.

Business class travelers will receive privileges such as access to VIP lounges, bonus miles and priority disembarkation of luggage. Air Europa says economy- and business-class travelers will also enjoy ergonomic seating; more space between seats; a customized audiovisual leisure system in the economy-class cabins of the airline’s A330s; and Mediterranean cuisine.

Air Europa’s destinations in Spain are Alicante, Barcelona, Bilbao, Fuerteventura, Gran Canaria, Granada, Ibiza, Lanzarote, Madrid, Malaga, Mallorca (Palma), Menorca, Oviedo, Santiago de Compostela, Sevilla, Tenerife, Valencia, Vigo and Zaragoza.

The airline’s international services operate from Madrid to Buenos Aires, Cancun, Caracas, Dakar, Havana, Lisbon, London, Marrakech, Milan, New York, Paris, Punta Cana, Rome, Salvador de Bahia (in Brazil), Santo Domingo, Tunis and Venice.

In 2010, the airline also is launching new international long-haul services from Madrid to Lima and Panama.
