Mexican low-cost carrier Volaris is adding New York to its route network in July, as the airline’s 20th destination in the United States.
Volaris, which claims already to have the most extensive cross-border route network of any carrier serving Mexico and the U.S., is launching three-times-weekly service between Guadalajara and New York JFK on July 15.
According to Volaris, the new service represents an effort to consolidate its international expansion with new service that allows Mexicans, particularly residents of the state of Jalisco, to visit family and friends living in the United States.
“Just as Frank Sinatra said in his most famous song, we want our customers to live the experience of the city that never sleeps, which is why we are so excited to now offer this new nonstop flight consolidating our position as the Mexican carrier with the widest route network,” says Enrique Beltranena, Volaris’ chief executive officer.
“There’s no better way to achieve this than with service connecting Mexico’s Perla Tapatia with The Big Apple,” adds Beltranena.
Volaris claims to have the greatest network of international connections of any carrier at Guadalajara, where it now operates 20 international and 18 domestic routes.
To date, Volaris has carried 16 million passengers to and from Guadalajara. The carrier says its passenger numbers at Guadalajara are growing rapidly as a result of significant traffic growth achieved by the carrier at the city in 2014.
Volaris’ schedule for its Guadalajara-New York route calls for its flight to leave Guadaljara’s Don Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla International Airport (IATA code GDL) at 5:45 p.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays from July 15 and land at New York JFK (JFK) at 11:35 p.m. local time.
In the other direction, Volaris’ return flight is timed to depart JFK at 1:25 a.m. on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays from July 16 and touch down at GDL at 5:55 a.m. local time.
Volaris is launching its Guadaljara-New York service with inaugural one-way fares starting at $204 using the carrier’s pay-per-service plan, Tu Decides, whereby travelers select only those services they need for their trips.
Booking is available for customers on all Volaris sales channels including www.volaris.com, its call centers in Mexico (01-800-122-8000) and the U.S. (1-866-988-3527), and any authorized travel agency.
