In partnership with the Nassau Paradise Island Promotion Board, JetBlue Airways is planning to launch daily nonstop service from Westchester County Airport (HPN) in New York state to Nassau’s Lynden Pindling International Airport (NAS).
The new JetBlue Airways service will begin on November 15, 2011, subject to government approval. If approved, the service will represent Westchester County Airport’s only international flight. The airport is near the town of White Plains and the airport is often referred to as White Plains Airport.
To mark the launch of the new Caribbean service, JetBlue is offering a one-way sale fare of $129 (not including government taxes and fees) for travel between November 15, 2011 and February 15, 2012. Travel must be booked by Friday, July 29 at www.jetblue.com/new. Blackout dates and other restrictions apply.
“JetBlue is excited to provide our Westchester and Fairfield County customers a simpler and more convenient way to access the Caribbean from their easy-in, easy-out local airport,” says Dave Barger, CEO of JetBlue Airways. “We’re equally as proud to offer the only regularly scheduled non-stop service from Westchester to the Caribbean, and to work with such great partners at the Nassau Paradise Island Board. Plus, our first flight will be offered just in time for customers to travel to the Bahamas to see the national champion UConn Huskies Men’s Basketball team in action as they compete in the Battle 4 Atlantis tournament.”
JetBlue’s proposed schedule between White Plains and Nassau will see its daily flight from Westchester County Airport departing HPN at 8:10 a.m. and landing at NAS at 11:10 a.m. In the other direction, JetBlue’s flight will leave NAS at 12:05 p.m. and arrive at HPN at 2:55 p.m. Both airports are in the same time zone.
The airline will operate its White Plains-Nassau service with Embraer 190s. These aircraft feature four-across seat rows, so every seat is an aisle or window seat. JetBlue’s service features assigned seating; a first-checked bag free); complimentary and unlimited name-brand snacks and drinks; leather seats; and free first-run movies on seatback televisions.
JetBlue Airways also offers multiple daily departures to Nassau (which is the main city on the island of New Providence in The Bahamas) for New York-area customers from the carrier’s hub at John F. Kennedy International Airport.
