JetBlue Airways has begun serving Barbados daily from New York JFK, using 150-seat Airbus A320s.
The airline’s inaugural Flight B6 871 (JetBlue’s two-character IATA flight prefix is B6) arrived at Grantley Adams International Airport (BGI) in Bridgetown from New York John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) on October 1.
The sold-out A320 operating the flight was welcomed to the most easterly island of the Caribbean with a traditional water-cannon salute upon arrival as the captain and first officer waved the American and Barbadian flags from the cockpit windows. JetBlue now serves Barbados with daily nonstop flights year-round from New York.
JetBlue is offering a special $99 sale fare each way (plus taxes and fees) for U.S.-originating travel between New York and Barbados. Flights are on sale through Tuesday, October 6 at www.jetblue.com for travel between October 8 and December 16. Blackout dates and other restrictions apply.
Until October 31, the airline’s service from JFK to Barbados is timed to depart JFK at 9:15 a.m. to reach BGI at 2:00 p.m., departing on the return flight at 3:00 p.m. local time to arrive back at JFK at 8:01 p.m. From November 1 until January 4, the flight is scheduled to depart JFK at 8:30 a.m. for a 2:18 p.m. arrival at BGI, pushing back for the return flight at 4:20 p.m. to reach JFK at 8:31 p.m.
