The Rezidor Hotel Group is opening the first Park Inn by Radisson hotel in Italy.

Rezidor has reached agreement with Luigi Simari, the owner of the Grand Hotel Milan Malpensa, to have the hotel re-branded as the Park Inn by Radisson Milan Malpensa.

The property, which features 138 rooms, is 10 minutes from Milan Malpensa Airport and has easy access to nearby businesses and Milan’s exhibition centers, according to Rezidor Hotel Group.

The mid-market Park Inn by Radisson hotel brand focuses on reliability, personalized services and good value for money. The interiors of its rooms are designed to offer a modern, upbeat décor

“We are delighted to bring our dynamic mid-market brand Park Inn by Radisson to Italy,” says Kurt Ritter, President and CEO of Rezidor. “We also further strengthen our position as one of Europe’s largest airport hotel operators – with now over 8,400 rooms in operation and under development and a portfolio which includes major hubs like London Heathrow, Amsterdam Schiphol and Frankfurt.”

“I’m very honoured to take part in this great project. The first Italian Park Inn by Radisson hotel will offer high standards,” says Simari. “Customers will be interested in staying at our hotel for two main reasons: the important and well-known brand and the closeness to the international airport of Milan Malpensa.”

Milan Malpensa is the second-busiest airport in Italy behind Rome Fiumicino and among the top 25 airports in Europe. In addition to serving corporate and leisure travelers visiting Milan, the airport is also the gateway to the resort destinations of the Italian Alps.

The Park Inn by Radisson Milan Malpensa underwent a full renovation and re-opened in May 2011. In addition to the 138 guest rooms, it features a restaurant and bar, two meeting halls, a gym, and a business center.

Park Inn by Radisson, a mid-market hotel brand, was launched in early 2003 and has 150 hotels in operation and under development across Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

In addition to its well-known European hotels, such as the Park Inn Hotel Oslo, Rezidor concentrates on future brand development in major travel hubs across the globe. Such locations often include highly visible train stations and airports where strong performance levels can be achieved, according to Rezidor.

The Rezidor Hotel Group says it is one of the fastest growing hotel companies in the world. The group features a portfolio of more than 400 hotels in operation and under development, with 88,800 rooms in more than 60 countries.

Brussels-headquartered Rezidor operates the brands Radisson Blu Hotels & Resorts and Park Inn by Radisson in Europe, Middle East and Africa, along with the Club Carlson loyalty program for frequent hotel guests. Under a worldwide license agreement with the Italian fashion house Missoni, Rezidor also operates and develops the new lifestyle brand Hotel Missoni.

Rezidor is listed on the Stockholm Stock Exchange. Minneapolis-based hospitality and travel company Carlson is the majority shareholder in the Rezidor Hotel Group, and owns the Radisson, Radisson Blue and Park Inn by Radisson hotel brands, as well as the Country Inns & Suites by Carlson and Park Plaza brands.
