Gulfstream International Airlines has inaugurated Continental Connection service between Parkersburg, West Virginia and Continental Airlines’ hub at Cleveland Hopkins International Airport, Ohio.
The new service offers four round-trips each weekday and four flights each weekend, which Gulfstream International Airlines says is twice the frequency offered by the previous carrier on the Essential Air Service (EAS) route. The U.S. Department of Transportation awarded Gulfstream International a new two-year contract as the EAS provider for Parkersburg at Mid Ohio Valley Regional Airport (PKB), providing direct service to Cleveland Hopkins (CLE).
Under its arrangement with Continental Airlines, Gulfstream coordinates pricing and schedules with Continental. Gulfstream passengers have a seamless travel experience, with Gulfstream offering through ticketing and baggage transfer. Gulfstream passengers may participate in the Continental OnePass Frequent Flyer program and may book their flights and select their seats on Continental’s website at www.continental.com.
“I am very excited by the service offered by Gulfstream International Airlines. It promises to be the best service we have seen at the Mid Ohio Valley Regional Airport for many years,” says Terry Moore, Manager of the Mid Ohio Valley Regional Airport. “Gulfstream’s reputation among managers of other airports in the region is exceptional and their on time and completion standards are very high. We have high expectations for this new air service and so far Gulfstream has met every one.”
Adds Moore: “The hub at Cleveland is a good fit for our area and should be well received by our travelers. With four flights a day on weekdays, Gulfstream will eliminate the problems our travelers have had making connections to and from our airport. Welcome aboard Gulfstream International Airlines, our Continental Connection.”
“Gulfstream is delighted to bring Continental Connection service to the Mid Ohio Valley Regional Airport,” says David Hackett, Gulfstream’s president and chief executive officer. “We are tremendously excited to expand our relationship with Continental Airlines from its Cleveland hub and believe that the region will benefit from our frequent and reliable service.”
Gulfstream International operates 23 Beech 1900D turboprops, offering more than 150 daily system departures throughout Florida, the Bahamas and Cleveland, operating as a Continental Connection carrier under a contractual agreement with Continental Airlines. Additionally, Gulfstream has codeshare relationships with United Airlines and Copa Airlines of Panama.
