With the introduction of its winter schedule, American Airlines is launching daily service between Fort Lauderdale and Los Angeles and is increasing its service from the South Florida city to Chicago O’Hare and Dallas/Fort Worth.

American Airlines says its daily departures from Fort Lauderdale will increase by 30 per cent to 17 flights next winter.


On November 17, American will add new nonstop service to Los Angeles as well as one additional flight to Chicago O’Hare. On February 9, American will add another flight to Chicago and an additional nonstop to Dallas/Fort Worth. American will operate Boeing 737-800s on all of the new flights from Fort Lauderdale.

American says the new Fort Lauderdale-Los Angeles nonstop complements the 10 new destinations American added from its West Coast cornerstone last spring, when the airline increased its departures from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) by 28 per cent.

On November 17, American Airlines’ flight AA1585 from Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) to LAX will depart FLL each day at 11:15 a.m. and arrive at LAX at 2:10 p.m. local time. In the other direction, flight AA1584 is timed to leave LAX at 9:50 p.m. and touch down at FLL at 5:25 a.m. the following morning, local time.

Also on November 17, American’s new daily flight AA1247 between Fort Lauderdale and Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD) will push back from the gate at FLL at 7:50 a.m. and reach ORD at 10:10 a.m. local time. In the other direction, flight AA569 will begin taxiing at ORD at 10:00 a.m. and will touch down at FLL at 1:55 p.m. local time.

Then, on February 9, American will begin operating new daily flight AA564 from Fort Lauderdale to Chicago O’Hare. The flight is timed to leave FLL at 3:00 p.m. and to land at ORD at 5:20 p.m. local time,. In the other direction, flight AA1730 will depart ORD at 1:40 p.m. and will reach FLL at 5:35 p.m. local time.

Also on February 9, American’s new daily flight AA2075 will begin operating between Fort Lauderdale and Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (DFW). The flight is scheduled to depart FLL at 2:30 p.m. and to get to DFW at 4:50 p.m. local time. In the other direction, flight AA2078 will leave DFW at 10:00 a.m. and will touch down at FLL at 1:35 p.m. local time.
