Allegiant Air is launching twice-weekly seasonal service between Laredo, Texas, and Orlando Sanford International Airport on May 20.

The seasonal service will operate through August 16. Allegiant Air is offering one-way fares from $59.99 plus taxes and fees (including Allegiant’s nearly unavoidable “convenience” fees for booking via the Internet or via call centers). The airline says customers can save an additional $20 off their airfares when they book accommodation via Allegiant at an Allegiant-preferred hotel.

However, a “convenience” fee of $14.99 per passenger will apply when the fare is booked on allegiant.com. A “convenience” fee of $14.99 per passenger, plus $14.99 per segment (one take-off and one landing), will apply when purchased through Allegiant call centers. Purchases made at any Allegiant airport ticket office will not incur a convenience or call-center fee.

Allegiant’s introductory-fare offer is not available on all flights and must be purchased by March 23 for travel by August 16. Reservations may be made at www.allegiant.com or by calling Allegiant Travel Company at 702-505-8888.

The flights will operate twice weekly between Laredo International Airport (LRD) and Orlando Sanford International Airport (SFB), with service on Mondays and Fridays.

Flights will depart LRD at 7:00 p.m., arriving at SFB at 10:55 p.m. local time. Flights leaving Orlando Sanford will leave SFB at 4:20 p.m. and reach LRD at 6:20 p.m. local time. The airline will operate its Laredo-Orlando Sanford Service with McDonnell Douglas MD-80s.

Allegiant Air began nonstop service from Laredo to Las Vegas on June 8, 2006.
