Allegiant Air is launching nonstop jet service to Long Beach, California and Phoenix-Mesa, Arizona from Colorado Springs on September 15.
The carrier will offer one-way introductory fares from $29.99 plus taxes and airline and government fees on its two new Colorado Springs routes. Allegiant’s $29.99 one-way introductory fare is limited, must be purchased by August 4, 2010 and is valid for travel through January 31, 2011. Introductory fares are not available on all flights. After the introductory-fare period, Allegiant Air will charge one-way fares from $49.99 plus taxes and fees on the routes.
“We’re pleased to bring two more affordable and convenient ways for our customers to get away,” says Andrew Levy, president of the airline’s parent company Allegiant Travel Company. “In 2002, we began serving Colorado Springs residents by offering nonstop flights to Las Vegas. We now look forward to offering the community the only nonstop, low-cost service to Long Beach and Phoenix-Mesa. ”
“The Allegiant service to Las Vegas has been a very successful route at Colorado Springs Airport,” says Mark Earle, Colorado Springs Airport’s rirector of aviation. “The addition of new nonstop Allegiant service to Phoenix and Long Beach means our customers will now have low-cost service to three of our top destinations.”
Allegiant Air’s flights between Colorado Springs Airport (COS) and Long Beach Airport (LGB) will operate five times weekly, with services operating every day except Wednesdays and Saturdays. Flights will depart COS at 9:25 a.m., arriving at LGB at 10:40 a.m. Flights leaving LGB will depart at 11:20 a.m., arriving at COS at 2:30 p.m. (All flight times are local).
The new service to Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport (IWA) will operate on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Flights will depart COS at 3:10 p.m., arriving at IWA at 3:55 p.m. Flights leaving IWA will depart at 6 a.m., arriving at COS at 8:45 a.m. local time.
Allegiant Air says market research and input from local community leaders indicate that the Colorado Springs community will welcome the new nonstop flights and low fares to both Long Beach and Phoenix-Mesa. Allegiant will use 150-seat McDonnell Douglas MD-80s on the routes. Allegiant began low-cost, nonstop service to Las Vegas from Colorado Springs on February 14, 2002.
Reservations can be made on the airline’s website at www.allegiant.com or by calling the company’s travel experts at 702-505-8888.
Allegiant Air’s quoted fare prices do not include PFC, segment tax or the September 11 security fee of up to $10.70 per segment. A segment is one take-off and one landing. An so-called convenience fee of $14.99 per passenger will apply when booked on allegiant.com. A similarly almost-unavoidable convenience fee of $14.99 per passenger, plus $14.99 per segment, will apply when purchased through Allegiant Air call centers. However, purchases made at any Allegiant Air airport ticket office will not incur a convenience or call-center fee. For ticket counter hours of operation, visit www.allegiant.com.
