Continuing its successful network strategy of linking secondary and tertiary U.S. airports with popular domestic vacation destinations, Allegiant Air is launching service between Phoenix-Mesa, Arizona and Fort Collins-Loveland, Colorado on October 8.

Allegiant Air will introduce the new service to Fort Collins-Loveland residents with initial fares from $29.99 one-way. The carrier’s $29.99 one-way introductory fare (which does not include government taxes and Allegiant’s hard-to-avoid “convenience” fees) is limited, must be purchased by September 1 and is valid for travel from October 8 through January 31, 2011.

The introductory fares are not available on all flights. After the introductory fare period, regular one-way fares on the route start from $49.99 one-way plus taxes and the airline’s fees. Reservations can be made on the airline’s website at www.allegiant.com or by calling the company’s travel agents at 702-505-8888.

“We’re pleased to bring another affordable and convenient way for our customers to get away,” says Andrew Levy, president of Allegiant Travel Company, the parent of Allegiant Air. “We began serving the Fort Collins-Loveland community in 2003 with nonstop flights to Las Vegas and we look forward to offering even more travel value with our new, low-cost flights to Phoenix-Mesa and the many hotel deals we offer in the destination.”

“New air service on Allegiant Air to the Phoenix-Mesa area is a tremendous step in the continuing push to enhance air travel opportunities for the people of Northern Colorado,” says Keith Reester, City of Loveland public works director. “This also continues to build the financial self-sufficiency of the Fort Collins-Loveland Municipal Airport. We believe this new nonstop, low-cost service will be very popular.”

The new flights will operate twice weekly between Fort Collins-Loveland Municipal Airport (FNL) and Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport (IWA), on Mondays and Fridays. Allegiant’s flights will depart Fort Collins-Loveland at 11:10 a.m., arriving in Phoenix-Mesa at 12:05 p.m. Its flights leaving Phoenix-Mesa will depart at 7:40 a.m., landing at Fort Collins-Loveland at 10:30 a.m. All quoted flight times are local times.

According to Allegiant Air, market research and input from local community leaders indicate that the Fort Collins-Loveland community will welcome the new nonstop flights and low fares to Phoenix-Mesa. The airline will operate 150-seat McDonnell Douglas MD-80-series jets on the route. Allegiant Air began nonstop service to Las Vegas from Fort Collins-Loveland on July 31, 2003.

Phoenix-Mesa is a gateway to all that Arizona has to offer, including the Grand Canyon, Scottsdale, Tempe and Sedona. According to Allegiant Air, not only is the area considered “the golf capital of the world”, but many people also regard it as “the resort capital of the world” because of its numerous four and five-diamond resorts. These premier resort communities feature shopping, dining, spas, activities and luxury accommodations for those seeking Arizona’s unique brand of Southwestern hospitality.
