Allegiant Air is launching twice-weekly non-stop jet service between Lexington, Kentucky and Fort Lauderdale on November 17.

The carrier will introduce the new service to Lexington residents with one-way fares from  $77.00 plus taxes and fees, including Allegiant Air’s “convenience” fee when booking through a call center.

“We can’t thank Allegiant enough for continuing to add service to Lexington,” says Eric Frankl, executive director of Lexington’s Blue Grass Airport. “Out of the 70 cities they serve, we are proud to be one of only a handful of airports that has Allegiant service to five destinations. Non-stop service with low fares to Fort Lauderdale is not only important to our region for leisure travelers but it is also a great connection for many in the horse industry.”

Allegiant’s $77.00 one-way introductory fare is limited, must be purchased by October 5, 2011, and is valid for travel between November 17, 2011, and February 14, 2012. Introductory fares are not available on all flights. The offfer is not available for travel between November 18 and November 28 and between December 24, 2011 and January 4, 2012.

The service will operate twice weekly between Blue Grass Airport (LEX) and Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL), with flights on Thursdays and Sundays. The Allegiant Air flight will depart LEX at 7:50 p.m. and land at FLL at 10:00 p.m., local time.

In the other direction, the Allegiant Air flight is timed to leave FLL at 4:50 p.m. and touch down at LEX at 7:05 p.m. local time.

Located in the center of South Florida’s Gold Coast, 40 miles from Palm Beach and 25 miles from Miami, Fort Lauderdale stretches from Deerfield Beach and Pompano Beach in the north to Hollywood and Hallandale Beach in the south. The area offers 300 miles of navigable inland waterways and 44,000 resident yachts, making it recognized as the “Yachting Capital of the World” and the “Venice of America.”

Reservations can be made on the airline’s website at www.allegiant.com or by calling the company’s travel agents at 702-505-8888 (which incurs a $14.99 “convenience” fee for each flight segment; for a two-segment trip (that is, an outbound and a return flight), the fee is $29.98 per person).

Parent company Allegiant Travel Company says it guarantees the lowest price on air and hotel vacation packages through the company’s “Low-Price Pledge”.

This pledge promises that, if the customer finds the same air and hotel package for less than it costs through Allegiant, Allegiant will credit the difference for use on a future booking. Allegiant also offers customers who book an air and hotel package through the company with an instant $20 savings on the round-trip airfare.
