Alaska Airlines is launching service between San Diego and Boston starting March 29 and between San Diego and Lihue in Kauai on June 7, 2013.

To promote the new service, Alaska Airlines is offering introductory fares starting from $129 each way between San Diego and Boston and $209 each way between San Diego and Kauai.

Alaska Airlines painted this Boeing 737-800 with a Hawaiian lei adorning its well-known Eskimo tail logo in honor of the airline’s now-sizable network linking Alaska and the mainland U.S. with various destinations in the Hawaiian Islands. The aircraft is photographed here flying near Honolulu’s famous Waikiki Beach

Tickets must be purchased by November 23 and can be used for travel between San Diego and Boston from March 29 through May 17, and for travel between Kauai and San Diego from May 7 through July 18, 2013.

Members of Alaska Airlines’ Mileage Plan can also earn double miles on San Diego-Boston flights between March 29 and July 17 and on San Diego-Kauai flights between June 7 and August 7, 2013. To qualify, customers must first register at alaskaair.com.

Tickets are available for purchase at www.alaskaair.com or by calling 1-800-ALASKAAIR (800-252-7522 or TTY/TDD line 800-392-0228).

The 737-800 is the highest-selling model of the Boeing 737NG family and is the workhorse of the Alaska Airlines fleet, the carrier operating more 737-800s than any other 737 variant

“With the addition of these two new routes, Alaska Airlines will offer 160 flights a week from San Diego to a dozen cities by next summer,” says Joe Sprague, Alaska Airlines’ vice president of marketing.

From March 29, Alaska Airlines’ San Diego-Boston flight will depart San Diego International Airport (SAN) at 9:30 a.m. daily and touch down at Boston Logan International Airport (BOS) at 5:55 p.m. local time. In the other direction, Alaska Airlines’ flight will leave BOS daily at 6:55 p.m. and arrive at SAN at 10:13 p.m. local time.

From June 7, Alaska Airlines’ San Diego-Kauai flight will push back from the gate at SAN at 9:55 a.m. and reach Lihue Airport (LIH) at 1:05 p.m. local time. The flight will operate daily until August 24, then reduce to a four-times weekly service, operating on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

To mark its close association with the city of Seattle, where it is headquartered and based, and also Seattle-based Boeing, Alaska Airlines had this Boeing 737-800 delivered wearing the Boeing house livery but carrying the airline’s distinctive Alaskan native face logo on its vertical stabilizer

In the other direction, the carrier’s Kauai-San Diego flight will leave LIH at 11:05 a.m. and get to SAN at 7:50 p.m. local time. In this direction, the flight will operate daily until August 23 then reduce to a four-times weekly schedule, with flights on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.

Alaska has added four services from San Diego this year, including non-stop service to Orlando and daily service to Fresno, Monterey and Santa Rosa in California.

In addition to Alaska’s new San Diego-Kauai service, the carrier also flies daily from San Diego to the Hawaiian Islands of Oahu and Maui.
