Alaska Airlines is expanding its Hawaii schedule by upgrading to daily, nonstop service from the California cities of Oakland and San Jose to Lihue on the island of Kauai and Kona on the Big Island of Hawaii on March 12, 2012.

The airline has previously served the markets with three flights a week between San Jose and Lihue and between Oakland and Kona and four flights a week from San Jose to Kona and Oakland to Lihue.

“We are really excited to now offer daily service from San Jose and Oakland to three Hawaiian Islands,” says Joe Sprague, Alaska’s vice president of marketing. “Going to seven flights a week from both San Jose and Oakland to Kauai and Kona – along with our existing daily service from both cities to Maui – makes it more convenient than ever for Bay Area travelers flying to the Hawaiian Islands.”

To mark the new service, Alaska Airlines is offering one-way fares of $179 plus taxes and fees on flights from the Bay Area to Lihue and Kona and to Kahului on the island of Maui, which the airline serves from Oakland, San Jose and Sacramento. Tickets must be purchased by September 3 for travel from March 12 through June 9, 2012.

The 737-800 is the highest-selling model of the Boeing 737NG family and is the workhorse of the Alaska Airlines fleet, the carrier operating more 737-800s than any other 737 variant

The sale fares are for travel on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays to Hawaii and for Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from Hawaii. Blackout dates apply.
