AirTran Airways has published schedules for new services it plans to begin in the next six months to Nassau, Bahamas and to Montego Bay, Jamaica.

Pending final government approval, AirTran Airways will begin flights to Nassau (NAS) on December 17 and to Montego Bay (MBJ) on February 11, 2010. Both destinations will feature nonstop flights from Atlanta (ATL), Baltimore/Washington (BWI), and Orlando (MCO), and connecting service from more than 40 other AirTran cities.


AirTran Airways already operates to a number of winter sun destinations in the Caribbean and the United States, offering flights to Cancun, Mexico, San Juan, Puerto Rico, Phoenix, Las Vegas, New Orleans, and nine cities in Florida.

The airline has its largest hub at Atlanta and offers flights to more destinations than any other carrier from Orlando. AirTran Airways also offers service to 22 cities from Baltimore/Washington.

AirTran’s schedule to Nassau from December 17 will see its flight FL411 departing ATL daily at 11:30 a.m. and arriving at NAS at 1:37 p.m. Return flight FL412 is timed to leave NAS at 2:22 p.m. and reach ATL at 4:27 p.m. AirTran will operate its daily ATL-NAS service with Boeing 737-700s.

From BWI, AirTran’s four-times-weekly flight FL733 will depart at 9:50 a.m. on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays. The flight will reach NAS at 12:22 p.m. Return flight FL734 is scheduled to leave NAS at 1:02 p.m. and arrive back at BWI at 3:34 p.m. The airline will operate the service with Boeing 717s.

AirTran also plans to operate four-times-weekly service from Orlando to Nassau, with its flight FL883 pushing back from the gate at MCO at 11:50 a.m on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. The flight is timed to arrive at NAS at 1:03 p.m. Return lfight FL884 will depart NAS at 1:48 p.m. to reach MCO at 3:02 p.m. AirTran will operate its MCO-NAS service with Boeing 737-700s.

On February 11, 2010, the airline plans to start daily Boeing 737-700 services from Atlanta and Baltimore/Washington to Montego Bay, and four-times-weekly 737-700 service from Orlando. From Atlanta, AirTran’s flight FL728 is scheduled to leave Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport at 11:55 a.m. and arrive at MBJ at 2:40 p.m. The return flight, FL729, is timed to depart MBJ at 1:09 p.m. and to reach ATL at 4:06 p.m.

From BWI, flight FL500 is scheduled to push back at 8:55 a.m. to get to MBJ at 12:19 p.m. On the way back, fligth FL501 is timed to depart MBJ at 3:30 p.m. to reach BWI at 6:58 p.m.

AirTran plans to operate its four-times-weekly Orlando-Montego Bay service on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays. Flight FL228 is timed to leave MCO at 11:40 a.m. to get to MBJ at 1:39 p.m. On the way back, flight FL229 is scheduled to depart MBJ at 2:29 p.m. and to arrive back at MCO at 4:33 p.m.
