AirTran Airways has resumed scheduled service from Gulfport/Biloxi, Mississippi to the carrier’s hub in Atlanta and has added new service from Gulfport/Biloxi to Tampa/St. Petersburg, Florida.
The airline is operating the services with Boeing 717s.
All services are three-times weekly ― on Wednesdays, Friday and Sundays ― and appear to use one aircraft on each day for a tightly scheduled, two-round-trip, open-jaws rotation.
The rotation sees the Boeing 717, operating flight FL1590, depart Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) at 11:00 a.m. local time and arrive at Gulfport/Biloxi International Airport (GPT) at 11:27 a.m. local time. The aircraft then leaves GPT at 12:00 noon, operating flight FL159, for St. Petersburg Clearwater International Airport (PIE), where it arrives at 2:25 p.m. local time.
Departing PIE on flight FL1592 at 3:00 p.m., the Boeing 717 then arrives back at GPT at 3:33 p.m. local time. It takes off again, operating flight FL1593, at 4:03 p.m. to arrive at ATL at 6:22 p.m. local time. (Gulfport/Biloxi is on US Central time, while both Atlanta and Tampa are on Eastern time.)
