AeroMexico is launching daily non-stop service from New York JFK to the Mexican Caribbean resort destination of Cancun on July 1.

The airline is due to start its service while Cancun is in the midst of commemorating the Mundo Maya, which offers events and celebrations throughout the resort city.

AeroMexico operates a sizable short-to-medium haul, single-aisle fleet of Boeing 737-700s and Boeing 737-800s. The carrier has more than 70 737NGs in service and on order

AeroMexico’s New York-Cancun flight schedule allows passengers to arrive in time to head out to the beaches for lunch.

The carrier’s daily flight is timed to leave JFK at 7:10 a.m. and land at Cancun International Airport (IATA code CUN) at 10:20 a.m. local time.

In the other direction, the AeroMexico flight is scheduled to depart CUN at 5:25 p.m. and arrive at JFK at 10:10 p.m. local time.

According to AeroMexico, the new service gives New Yorkers the opportunity to reach the Mexican Caribbean in about four hours and enjoy Cancun’s attractions and beaches in time for Fourth of July celebrations and Cancun’s Whale Shark season.

AeroMexico operates Boeing 777s, 767s and 737NGs, while its sister regional carrier Aeromexico Connect operates Embraer ERJ-145 and Embraer 190 regional jets. In 2011 the company began an expansion plan that called for the addition of 20 more aircraft and properties over the next 24 months.

Grupo Aeromexico operates its main hub at Terminal 2 at Mexico City’s Benito Juárez Internacional Airport.

The group’s airlines operate more than 550 flights a day to cities in Mexico, the United States, Canada, Central and South America, as well as Europe and Asia.
