Singapore Airlines has begun offering Airbus A380 service to and from New York John F. Kennedy International Airport.
The airline’s inaugural A380 service to New York was scheduled to touch down at New York JFK at 11:10 a.m. on January 16, but according to Flightstats.com actually landed early at 10:39 a.m. The aircraft was scheduled to depart New York JFK again at 8:10 p.m., bound for Frankfurt and Singapore on SIA’s flight SQ25.
In First Class, Singapore Airlines’ A380s offer the air transport industry’s only Double Suites – a private cabin equipped with a double bed for two passengers – as well as a host of enhanced seating, entertainment and dining options in every class.
With only two Double Suites available on each aircraft, the Singapore Airlines Suites offer an unprecedented level of personal space in-flight. Each private cabin offers a 23-inch video screen with more than 1,000 on-demand entertainment options, the industry’s only choice of Dom Perignon or Krug Champagne, down duvet turn-down service at bedtime, personal care amenities by Kiehl’s, and exclusive sleeper suits designed by Givenchy.
Single Suite cabins are also available for solo travelers in the First Class cabins of Singapore Airlines A380s, offering the same privacy, amenities and features.
SIA has announced an expansion of its partnership with U.S. private-jet company JetSuite for travelers connecting to SIA A380 services at JFK. This expanded relationship enables Singapore Airlines to offer special rates on domestic and international private-jet connections for travelers at airports located within 1,000 miles of JFK.
New York is the tenth destination in Singapore Airlines’ network and its second point in North America, following Los Angeles International Airport, to receive SIA A380 service.
Singapore Airlines was the first carrier to operate the Airbus A380, in October 2007. The Singapore Airlines A380 will operate daily flights between Singapore and New York JFK via Frankfurt following the inaugural service.
The airline’s A380 schedule from Singapore to New York calls for flight SQ26 to leave Singapore Changi International Airport (SIN) at 11:55 p.m. and land at Frankfurt Airport (FRA) at 6:10 a.m. the following day, local time. The flight is then timed to depart FRA again at 8:20 a.m. and touch down at JFK at 11:10 a.m., local time.
In the other direction, SIA’s A380 flight SQ25 is timed to leave JFK at 8:10 p.m. and land at FRA at 10:00 a.m. the following morning, local time. The aircraft then departs FRA again at 11:50 a.m. in order to arrive at SIN at 6:50 a.m. the following morning, local time.
