American Airlines’ first Boeing 767-300ER retrofitted with the airline’s new Business Class cabin and general interior upgrade will perform its inaugural commercial flight on April 1.

American Airlines decided to retrofit half of its 58-aircraft Boeing 767-300ER fleet with the airline’s new Business Class cabin and general interior upgrade

The first retrofitted American Airlines Boeing 767-300ER will operate its inaugural commercial service between New York JFK (IATA code JFK) and Zurich Airport (ZRH).

American Airlines has begun retrofitting half of its existing 58-aircraft Boeing 767-300ER fleet to offer 28 fully lie-flat Business Class seats with aisle access from every seat.

Other elements of the Boeing 767-300ER retrofit project include the installation of new LCD drop-down monitors, new digital audio systems, refreshed lavatories, and new seat covers and cushions in the Main Cabin.

Every passenger in the Business Class cabin on American’s retrofitted Boeing 767-300ERs has direct aisle access

Each retrofitted 767-300ER will also be outfitted with international Wi-Fi; in-seat entertainment; and Main Cabin Extra seating, which provides more legroom for economy-class passengers willing to pay a premium over economy-class prices.

These interior elements mirror the design of American’s Boeing 777-300ER fleet for a more consistent passenger experience throughout American Airlines’ widebody fleet.

American says that, as additional retrofitted 767-300ERs prepare to enter service, it will deploy the refurbished aircraft to additional markets.

Each Business Class seat in the American Airlines Boeing 767-300ERs which have had their interiors retrofitted reclines into a fully lie-flat bed. Every Business Class seat in the cabin also offers direct aisle access

Those 767-300ER which American retrofits with the new Business Class cabin and other interior-upgrade elements will operate in the new configuration with fully lie-flat Business Class Seats and all-aisle access.

However, American says it will retire over time the remaining 767-300ERs which it does not refurbish.
