Members of Continental Airlines' OnePass program members now can earn and redeem miles on flights operated by Aeromar.

Mexican regional airline Aeromar and Continental Airlines have signed a frequent-flyer-program partnership agreement.

Members of Continental Airlines’ OnePass program members now can earn and redeem miles on flights operated by Aeromar. In addition, Continental international first and business class passengers, Presidents Club members and Star Alliance Gold customers have access to Aeromar’s Salon Diamante lounge in Mexico City.

“All of us at Aeromar are excited to enhance our business partnership with Continental Airlines by means of our participation in the OnePass program. This initiative will no doubt bring added value to our customers and act as a cornerstone for future projects between both airlines,” says Ami Lindenberg, Aeromar’s president.

“We are pleased to launch our partnership with Aeromar, which will complement our extensive Mexico network and offer expanded benefits to our customers,” says Jim Compton, executive VP & chief marketing officer for Continental Airlines.

Founded in 1987, Aeromar’s IATA flight prefix is ‘VW’. It had a codeshare agreement with Mexicana and operated services on behalf of Mexicana’s domestic subsidiaries MexicanaClick and MexicanaLink until all the Mexicana-branded carriers stopped operating on August 28.

Aeromar was also an affiliate of the oneworld alliance (of which Mexicana was a member) until the bigger airline stopped operating; now its budding relationship with Continental Airlines suggests Aeromar could help give Star Alliance a presence in Mexico which the alliance, the world’s largest, has lacked until now.

From its main operations base at Mexico City’s International Airport Terminal 2, Aeromar covers a network of 17 destinations in Mexico, as well as San Antonio in Texas. It operates more than 100 flights a day on average, using a fleet of 50-seat ATR 42 turboprops.

Aeromar’s ‘Salon Diamante’ executive lounges are available at the Aguascalientes, Colima, Jalapa, Mexico City and Tepic airports. Additional products and services offered by Aeromar include all-inclusive vacation packages, VIP charter flights and “FastPaq” courier and freight.
