GOL Linhas Aéreas Inteligentes is launching five-times-weekly service to new domestic destination Bauru in the western part of Sao Paulo state on February 1.
The Brazilian airline will operate five round-trips a week from Sao Paulo city’s downtown Congonhas Airport (CGH) to Bauru (BAU), which becomes GOL’s 50th domestic destination.
“We are launching regular operations in Bauru in the wake of our success in Presidente Prudente [IATA airport code PPB, another city in western Sao Paulo state], a destination that handled around 50 passengers a day before GOL moved in and now generates more than 200 tickets per day,” says Constantino de Oliveira Junior, GOL’s CEO. “We expect the same GOL effect at this new destination, the 50th in our domestic network.”

Brazilian low-cost airline GOL Linhas Aéreas Inteligentes and its associated carrier VARIG now operate a fleet of well over 100 Boeing 737-700s and 737-800s. A majority of the aircraft in GOL's fleet are of a special-performance version of the 737-800
The outbound flight to BAU, flight G3 1060 (‘G3′ is GOL’s flight code), leaves Congonhas at 11:30 a.m. and arrives at the Moussa Nakhl Tobias State Airport in Bauru at 12:25 p.m. (all times refer to the time zone in the country’s capital, Brasilia). The return flight, G3 1061, leaves Bauru at 1:30 p.m. Brasilia time and arrives at Congonhas at 2:22 p.m.
Bauru is the biggest city in western Sao Paulo and one of the state’s leading economic centers, with a of 5.3 billion Brazilian reais. It is 345 kilometres (214 miles) from Sao Paulo city and has a population of around 359,500 people. GOL says the new route to Congonhas will benefit customers from the region surrounding Bauru by connecting them immediately with the country’s main business markets, including Belo Horizonte (Confins), Brasilia, Curitiba, Florianopolis, Navegantes, Porto Alegre, Rio de Janeiro and Salvador, among others.
GOL is offering an introductory fare of 79 Brazilian reais each way on the route. The rules governing fares are available on GOL’s site, www.voegol.com.
