American Eagle Starts Service from DFW to Cheyenne and Columbus, Georgia

American Eagle Airlines, the regional affiliate of American Airlines, has launched twice-daily, nonstop jet service between Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) and Columbus Metropolitan Airport (CSG) in Georgia, using 44-seat Embraer ERJ-140 regional jets.

The airline has also begun twice-daily, nonstop jet service between DFW and Cheyenne Regional Airport (CYS) in Wyoming, also with ERJ-140s.


“With two daily nonstops, customers from both Georgia and Alabama can make a day trip to DFW or enjoy convenient connections to more than 250 destinations throughout American’s global network, says Gary Foss, vice president – planning and marketing for the AA Regional Network, of the new DFW-Columbus service.

Speaking about American Eagle’s new service to Cheyenne, the state capital of Wyoming, Foss says: “This new route is the result of a unique business partnership between American and the Wyoming Department of Transportation and the Cheyenne community, and we are grateful for their vision and support.”

American Eagle operates a large fleet of Embraer ERJ-135s, ERJ-140s (one is seen in this photograph) and ERJ-145s, as well as a fleet of up-to-70-seat Bombardier CRJ700s

American Eagle’s schedule for flights between Dallas/Fort Worth and Columbus (all times local)  sees flight AA2977 depart DFW at 12:45 p.m. and arrive at CSG at 3:40 p.m. Flight AA2984 is scheduled to leave DFW at 6:40 p.m. and reach CSG at 9:35 p.m.

In the other direction, flight AA2980 is timed to depart CSG at 7:05 a.m. and land at DFW at 8:15 a.m. Flight AA2983 leaves CSG at 4:05 p.m. and gets to DFW at 5:15 p.m.

Customers can earn double AAdvantage mileage points flying between Dallas/Fort Worth and Columbus through October 15, 2010. Customers must register prior to travel using the Bonus Code CSG2X. Register and obtain complete offer terms and conditions at www.aa.com/offers.

Columbus is situated on the banks of the Chattahoochee River and is home to several large corporations and manufacturers, as well as Fort Benning, a major U.S. Army post. Visitors to the area can visit numerous historic homes and museums, including the Columbus Museum and the National Civil War Naval Museum.

American Eagle’s schedule for flights between Dallas/Fort Worth and Cheyenne (all times local) calls for flight AA2991 to leave DFW at 12:45 p.m. and arrive at CYS at 1:50 p.m. Flight AA2996 is timed to depart DFW at 7:50 p.m. and reach CYS at 8:55 p.m.

Between Cheyenne and Dallas/Fort Worth, the schedule calls for flight AA2979 to leave CYS at 6:40 a.m. and land at DFW at 9:33 a.m. Flight AA2992 is scheduled to depart CYS at 2:15 p.m. and to reach DFW at 5:10 p.m.

American Eagle says its new Cheyenne service is just in time for Cheyenne Frontier Days, the largest outdoor rodeo in the world, showcasing the area’s culture and Western heritage. The new flights to DFW will provide local businesses, personnel from nearby F.E. Warren Air Force Base and customers across southeast Wyoming with connections to more than 250 destinations throughout American’s global network.
