Low-cost airline Allegiant Air is launching nonstop jet service on July 1 between Long Beach Airport and Bellingham International Airport, which is located in Washington State just minutes away from the Canadian border and a short drive from Vancouver, B.C.
Allegiant Air’s new Long Beach-Bellingham flight will mark its first service from Long Beach and its fourth Southern California destination served from Bellingham International Airport.
The low-cost airline is offering an extremely limited number of May 19-only fares as low as $9.99 one-way plus airline and government fees and taxes, to and from Long Beach. The company is also offering one-way fares from $49.99 (again plus airline and government fees and taxes) between the two cities when purchased by June 2.
In addition, Allegiant partners with various hotels in the Southern California area and is offering the fourth night hotel stay free with the purchase of three consecutive nights.
“We’re pleased to offer yet another affordable and convenient way for our customers to get away,” says Andrew Levy, president of the airline’s parent Allegiant Travel Company. “We think the simple facility design and easy customer experience at Long Beach Airport is a perfect fit for the Allegiant customer.”

As Allegiant Air continues to take delivery of more McDonnell Douglas MD-80s it has purchased in used-aircraft deals, the low-cost carrier continues to add new destinations to its network. One such is Long Beach in the Los Angeles area, which Allegiant Air is serving from July 1, 2010
The new flights will operate three times weekly between Bellingham International Airport (BLI) and Long Beach Airport (LGB) with service on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays. Flights will depart BLI at 2:30 p.m., arriving at LGB at 5:05 p.m. Flights leaving LGB will depart at 5:45 p.m., arriving at BLI at 8:30 p.m. (all flight times are local).
Allegiant offers nonstop service to six other vacation destinations from Bellingham: Las Vegas; Los Angeles; Palm Springs, California; Phoenix-Mesa, Arizona; and San Diego and San Francisco-Oakland in California. Allegiant will use 150-seatMD-80 jets on the new route.
Southern California is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world. Offering landmarks such as the Hollywood Walk of Fame, the Santa Monica Pier and the Queen Mary, as well as a large number of theme parks such as Disneyland, Universal Studios and SeaWorld, Southern California is full of entertainment.
The Bellingham and Southern British Columbia area offers an abundance of mountains and breathtaking scenery. Vancouver is known for its vast shopping, dining and entertainment options. Located midway between Vancouver and Seattle, the Bellingham-Mount Baker region is nestled between the deep Pacific Ocean and the towering Cascade Mountain Range. The area offers a wide variety of activities and experiences, such as whale watching, birding, excursions to the San Juan Islands, snow-capped glaciers, wine tasting and tulip fields.
Allegiant Travel Company partners with more than 30 Southern California hotel properties, including Hyatt Regency Long Beach; Best Western Pavilions; Best Western Stovall’s Inn; Crowne Plaza Anaheim Resort; Hyatt Regency Huntington Beach Resort & Spa; and Sheraton Park Hotel at the Anaheim Resort. The company also provides low-cost car rental service through its partnership with Alamo Rent a Car.
Allegiant’s $49.99 one-way introductory fare is limited, must be purchased by June 2 and is valid for travel through January 31, 2011. Introductory fares are not available on all flights. After the introductory fare period, regular one-way fares on the route start from $79.99 one-way, plus airline fees and government fees and taxes.
