AirTran Airways has celebrated the 50th anniversary of the Little Debbie brand of snack cupcakes (well known in the United States) by creating a special external logo for one of the airline’s Boeing 717s.
The specially painted Boeing 717 is dubbed Little Debbie 1 and was due to make its inaugural commercial flight in its new livery on AirTran’s flight FL931 from Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport to Jacksonville, Florida at 12:24 p.m. on February 12.
As part of the 50th anniversary, AirTran Airways and Little Debbie are giving away 50 vacation packages in conjunction with Little Debbie’s The Great American Getaway sweepstakes. Each vacation package includes round-trip airfare for two to anywhere AirTran flies in the continental United States, two nights at a Holiday Inn hotel, a rental car for two days and a $200 cash card.
The sweepstakes ends May 31, 2010. For more details and the chance to win, visit www.littledebbie.com. On Little Debbie packaging, AirTran is also offering $10 vouchers toward travel during the promotion period.
“Little Debbie is proud to partner with AirTran Airways to celebrate our 50th Anniversary,” says Chris McKee, exeutive vice president sales & marketing for McKee Foods, maker of the popular snack cakes. “This specially designed AirTran Airways Boeing 717 aircraft ― Little Debbie 1 ― flying all over the country is a fantastic way to launch our next 50 years as America’s favorite snack cake.”
