South African Airlink has begun operating a second weekly non-stop service between Johannesburg and Pemba in Mozambique.
Airlink, which is the regional-airline subsidiary of South African Airways, operates the twice-weekly round-trips between Johannesburg and Pemba with 37-seat Embraer ERJ-135LR regional jets.
Pemba, which is an ancient port of 200,000 residents, forms a natural gateway to the wildlife-rich interior of Mozambique and the beautiful Quirimbas Archipelago in the Indian Ocean.
South African Airways regional-airline subsidiary Airlink operates eight 37-seat Embraer ERJ135LR regional jets, as well as eight 83-seat Avro RJ85s and 13 29-seat BAE Systems Jetstream 4100 turboprops
Airlink operates its round-trips between Johannesburg and Pemba on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
The flights leave Johannesburg’s OR Tambo International Airport (JNB) at 11:10 a.m. and arrive at Pemba’s Porto Amelia Airport (POL) at 2:00 p.m. In the other direction, Airlink’s flights depart from POL at 2:30 p.m. and land at JNB at 5:25 p.m. The flying time is just under three hours.
