Air China’s PhoenixMiles frequent flyers can now receive bonus frequent-flyer kilometers when they purchase tickets.
Program members will receive an additional 500 kilometer-points when they purchase domestic one-way flights (1,000 points if they buy a domestic round-trip) and an additional 2 kilometers for every 10 yuan renmimbi (RMB) spent in purchasing tickets for international flights through Air China’s hotline (4008-986-999).
Additionally, members now have the option to trade 1,000 kilometer-points for 30-yuan ticket coupons.
Awards of free Air China free domestic tickets require only 8,000 kilometer-points, and can be obtained more quickly when combined with other promotions. For example, for the Beijing-Shanghai route, the normal mileage award is 1,088 kilometers. Now, passengers can receive an additional 500-kilometer award for each one-way Beijing-Shanghai trip, providing 1,588 kilometer-points. Consequently, mileage awards from 6 one-way flights or three round-trip on the Beijing-Shanghai route will provide PhoenixMiles members with enough points to redeem for a free ticket.
To allow frequent flyers to use small amounts of mileage points, Air China has launched an initiative to trade 1,000 kilometer-points for RMB30 ticket coupons. PhoenixMiles travelers can trade kilometer-points for up to 1,000 coupons at Air China’s E-shop. Air China says the coupons will provide members with more options in using their mileage.
When they have traded their points for coupons at the airline’s E-shop, PhoenixMiles members will receive Air China codes via e-mail within three working days. When purchasing tickets through Air China’s hotline (4008-986-999), they can use their coupons along with the codes and their mobile phone numbers.
PhoenixMiles members are only able to trade a maximum of three coupons in each flight purchase and use one coupon for each ticket. However, members can use coupon trades and receive additional-mileage awards in the same ticket-buying transaction.
