Eznis Airways, the largest Mongolian privately owned airline, has taken delivery of its first aircraft intended for international service to major Asian destinations.
Los Angeles-based leasing company International Lease Finance Corporation (ILFC), a subsidiary of financial-services giant American International Group, has delivered a Boeing 737-700 to Eznis Airways.
According to ILFC, Eznis Airways will use the Boeing 737-700 to expand its international operations and help serve Mongolia’s rapidly growing air traffic demand.
In the first quarter of 2012, inbound and outbound international traffic in Mongolia increased by 30 per cent compared to the same period in 2011, according to ILFC.
“The addition of the Boeing 737-700 to our fleet marks an important strategic milestone for Eznis Airways. This new aircraft will allow us to provide quality service on international routes from Ulaanbaatar,” said Munkhsukh Sukhbaatar, chief executive officer of Eznis Airways.
“ILFC is proud to provide Eznis Airways’ first 737 aircraft,” said Dave Nixon, ILFC’s head of Asia-Pacific. “This aircraft is clearly an important milestone in the airline’s efforts to secure its place as a leading airline in this rapidly growing region and increase its international market share. We look forward to a long and successful business partnership with ILFC’s newest customer.”
Eznis Airways has the largest fleet of any Mongolian carrier, the 737-700 becoming its seventh aircraft. The aircraft can fly non-stop to Beijing, Seoul, Tokyo and Hong Kong from Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia’s capital.
The airline was established on January 6, 2006 by Newcom Group, one of the largest holding companies of Mongolia.
According to ILFC, Eznis Airways has the largest network of domestic destinations within Mongolia, and highest service frequency on these routes.
Eznis Airways operates domestic scheduled and charter flights to 11 destinations in 9 aimags (provinces) of Mongolia and operates international scheduled service to Hailar in China’s Inner Mongolia region and Ulan-Ude in the Russian Federation’s Buryat Republic.
It also operates charter services to points in China, Russia and Kazakhstan. For more information, visit www.eznisairways.com.
