Grupo Aeromexico is adding its first Boeing Sky Interior-equipped Boeing 737-800 to its fleet on September 20.
The aircraft will be the first Boeing Sky Interior-equipped Boeing 737-800 operated by a Mexican airline, according to AeroMexico.
This is the first of 20 Boeing 737-800s ordered by Grupo Aeromexico in a $1.3 billion fleet upgrade announced in March 2011. In the next few months, AeroMexico will receive nine more Boeing Sky Interior-equipped 737-800s.
The carrier’s first Boeing Sky Interior-equipped aircraft will make its maiden commercial flight from Mexico City to New York JFK and will initially serve major high-frequency routes from Mexico City to Miami, Lima, Monterrey and Cancun. Additional medium-haul and long-haul flights are planned for AeroMexico’s new 737-800s to other destinations in the near future.
AeroMexico’s latest 737-800 features a Boeing Sky Interior with LED lighting intended to foster a soothing ambience within the cabin. The aircraft also features seats with increased legroom and plush leather seating. It will carry 160 passengers, 16 in Premier Class and 144 in Economy Class.
The Premier Class cabin features spacious seating with footrests, personal LED lighting and individual outlets for electrical devices.
Additionally, Premier Class passengers will find personal touch-screen TV screens in their seats, allowing them to experience a wide variety of in-flight entertainment including music, television programs, movies and interactive games.
The new 737-800’s Economy Class cabin features innovative aerodynamic seating designed to increase passenger comfort and space.
Each seat also comes fully equipped with a nine-inch individual touch-screen TV with USB input for passengers to connect personal electronic devices and provide capabilities such as creating custom playlists in personal music libraries.
Passengers will also have access to interactive maps showcasing flight paths in real time.
